The Office of Student Engagement hosted a Paint Nite at AACC Wednesday where students got hands-on experience making art.
The painting, done step-by-step with an instructor, consisted of trees with changing leaves against a lake with a blue and purple sky in the background.
Lizzie Laumann, the instructor for Paint Nite, gave advice to beginning painters.
“Just do it,” Laumann said. “You can go on your own journey and paint whatever you’re feeling … that’s your time to zen out and relax a bit.”
Program manager for the Office of Student Engagement Neena Robertson organized the event.
“This is the first time we’ve done [a Paint Nite] and I think it was successful,” Robertson said.
“It’s something different; I don’t think we’ve had something like this before,” Robertson added.
“It’s fun to do something else during the week,” second-year early childhood development student Scarleth Raudales said.
Raudales added, “It’s good to give yourself a break.”
Second-year business administration student Yen Truong said she would go to this event again.
“It’s creative and you can bring stuff home,” Truong said.
“We are seeing to do this in the winter time as like a final stress relief,” Robertson said.
Robertson said she hopes there are more participants next time.
