The Game Development Club was approved to travel to a convention this March at today’s Student Government Association meeting.

According to Executive Vice President Jesseca Greene, the trip will cost approximately $3,500.

The club is traveling to GDC, or Game Development Convention, in San Fransisco from March 18 to 22. The convention is the largest game development convention in the world, according to the website 28,000 people attend.

“We are going to attend discussion panels, technique tutorial workshops and speeches,” said Rick Williams, the Game Development’s club president.

According to Williams, four club members will attend the convention.

SGA President Jacob Smith called the convention “educational.”

Also at today’s meeting, Smith announced nominations for the annual SGA Honors and Awards Ceremony are now open.

Students and faculty can nominate for a variety of awards.

This year, two new awards were added: Student Club of the Year and Club Event of the Year.

In an email from program coordinator Leslie Cook, the club of the year award will “recognize an outstanding student club on campus” and the event award will highlight an “outstanding club event.”

Deadlines for the nominations is March 29, they can be sent in through the Nest.
