Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2

Safety still hasn’t taken a holiday in the sequel to “Paul Blart: Mall Cop”.

The second installment in the Paul Blart series picks up with Blart, played by the comedian Kevin James, packing his things and going to Las Vegas for a mall security convention.

While in Vegas, there’s a team of art thieves trying to steal the artifacts placed throughout the hotel, and it’s up to Blart and his makeshift team of other mall security officers to keep the artifacts safe.

While I find Kevin James to be hilarious in some of his other works such as “King of Queens” or “Grown Ups”, I don’t believe that he lives up to his comedic reputation in the Paul Blart franchise. Granted, the first installment in the series had a few laughs and nice jokes. However, the second one was surprisingly stale. Almost as if you could anticipate the joke before one of the cast members said it.

The film scored an average of 4% on Rotten Tomatoes and has been widely panned by other critics.

While I do respect Kevin James as an actor, this movie is not worth going to pay money to see in theaters.

With a 94 minute running time, it is wise to say that this movie is one that should be rented, or better yet, caught when it appears on television.

After viewing both Paul Blart films, I was convinced that I should buy a Segway and learn some sweet tricks on it. Consider that a positive characteristic of the film.
