The “7th Annual Art of Women Invitational Exhibition” will become open to the community of AACC March 5-31.

In honor of March, which celebrates Women’s History Month, the Pascal Center for Performing Arts Gallery will be exhibiting art projects by female students.

“For me, I think Women’s History Month is important for art because the overwhelming percentage of recognition afforded to artists has been accorded to men,” said Carolin Woolson, coordinator of the Women’s Institute Events.

“Most people can name at least two or three male artists but cannot name a single female artist,” said Woolson. “Having an exhibit dedicated to women artists shines light on the fact that women can be, are and always have been, just as talented, skilled, creative, innovative and committed to the arts as their male counterparts, and that AACC is committed to giving them the recognition they so richly deserve.”

In order to educate the community of AACC, the exhibit will be open from March 5 to 31 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. For more information, contact curator Dawn Bond 410-777-7023 or e-mail her dcbond1@aacc.edu.
