The National Junior College Athletic Association awarded an AACC shooting guard a spot on the All-Region 20 Division III First Team in March.

Riverhawk Jeremiah “Scoob” Stroman said he earned the award because he “felt like I was if not the best, then one of the best” in the region.

“I was happy to get it,” Stroman, a first-year film student, said. “I put up numbers this season. [There] was no way I shouldn’t have got it. If I didn’t get it … I would’ve been extremely mad.”

The NJCAA awards All-Region 20 accolades to players in Maryland and Pennsylvania for their good seasons.

The NJCAA also named first-year guard Truth Norton to the All-Region 20 Honorable mention squad.

“They both had good individual years even though the team may not have met all the accolades that we started out to have,” men’s head basketball coach Joe Snowden noted. “But they fulfilled their obligations.”

The Riverhawks men’s basketball team finished the season with four wins and 25 losses during the regular season.

Stroman averaged 18.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and three assists a game during the regular season. He scored 31 points in the playoffs on Feb. 25 against the Prince George Community College Owls. Norton averaged 15.1 points and 6.4 rebounds a game during the regular season.

Snowden said it’s important that the NJCAA selects AACC players for All-Region 20 awards.

“It helps us in recruiting and it helps us know that we have a good program,” Snowden said.
