“Daring”, “witty”, and “provocative” are just some of the words being used to describe
Anne Arundel Community College’s fall play, Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

Directed by Kristin Clippard, the period play is to open at 8 pm on November 7th at
AACC.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses is a play by Christopher Hampton that was based off of a
novel written in 1782 with the same title. It focuses on two rivals, Marquise de Merteuil, played by
Aladrian Wetzel, and the Vicomte de Valmont played by Erik Alexis, who both use cruel games to
seek revenge.

“The show is the perfect hybrid of scintillating entertainment and provocative morality… It
amuses with its witty dialogue while raising questions [that] it trusts the audience to provide the
answers [to],” said Alexis.

The cast and crew have been hard at work for several weeks to transport their audiences
to Paris in the 1780’s. Sean Urbanke, the technical director, has designed a stylized set and the
actors have taken up sword fighting and old English dialogue in order to engulf audience
members into this world.

“…The incredibly elegant, varied, poetic dialogue…really helps to set the period the play
lives in,” said actor and Vice President of the Theater at AACC, Reed Burger Sigmon.
Opening night is fast approaching and the cast and crew of Les Liaisons Dangereuses
are working in overdrive.

“Everyone is working together…I couldn’t ask for a better cast/crew,” said John Bell, who
will be appearing in the play.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses opens on Nov. 7 and will be playing until Nov. 16 in the
Robert E. Kauffman Theater on the Arnold campus.
