Anne Arundel Community College’s Cybersecurity Club members will be accepting laptops at their Virus Check table and walking students through identifying viruses as well as helping to clean their laptops.

The ‘Virus Check’ table will be located in the dining hall on Tuesdays Oct. 14, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 from noon to 1:30 p.m. and is apart of AACC’s initiative to raise awareness for Cybersecurity month.

Cybersecurity is “when users can put protective measures on their systems to help prevent intruders from gaining access to their network.” Said Angela Saccone, president of AACC’s Cybersecurity Club.

The purpose of the Cybersecurity Club is to, “Provide environment where students can learn about cybersecurity. We have discussions about the latest cybersecurity news.” Said Saccone. “Software demonstrations of free software download tool. It’s more of a tutorial to help students understand cybersecurity concepts.”

The Cybersecurity Club provides resume-building activities such as job fairs, cybersecurity conferences and participating in competitions and cyber projects.

Cybersecurity Club meets twice a month on Wednesdays. On the second Wednesday of the month at the Arnold campus in CALT from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and on the fourth Wednesday of the month off location at AACC’s CCBT at the Arundel Mills location on the third floor above the restaurant Green Turtle from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
