The Student Government Association held nominations for senators and a vice president of finance on Monday at a general forum.

Attendees at the forum nominated four candidates for senator positions and two candidates for a vice president of finance.

President of the SGA Mitchell Santos said, “I’m really optimistic for it, looking forward to it,” about the upcoming elections.

Senators reach out to clubs to answer questions about and for the SGA. They also help plan events, sitting on various committees. They earn a stipend of $200 per semester.

The vice president of finance handles the SGA’s money and helps clubs with their accounts when they need assistance. They earn a stipend of $350 per semester.

Two separate elections will take place. The first will run from Sept. 16 to 20 and is for both senators and the vice president of finance.

The second election will run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 and is for senators only. Votes are placed online through The Nest.

Nomination ballots for the first election must be in by Sept. 13. The nomination ballots for the second election must be in by Sept. 27.
