Women’s Cross Country began practice in mid-August, to prepare for their first meet which will be held on Sept. 2 at Salisbury University at 9:45 a.m.

The team plans to improve upon their previous three seasons in which the team became Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference region 20 champions.

“We have a good group this year, but it’s still early, we’ll see,” said Women’s Cross Country head coach Jim Griffiths.

Griffiths’ team placed fourth at Nationals two years ago, making Griffiths no stranger to success.

Women’s Cross Country will participate in 4 meets throughout September and October. Two postseason meets will also be scheduled depending on the season.

“Our real goal is for everybody to improve, work hard, and have a good experience,” said Griffiths.

Although Women’s Cross country began practicing already, Coach Griffiths welcomes new players to come to practice and speak with him and the team.

The team will play a total of 15 matches this season, and four Tri-matches. There will be eight home matches and 11 away matches.

Two Tri-match events will be at home on Sept. 16 at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The away Tri-matches will be held at Butler County Community College.

Volleyball Coach Gregory McDivitt “is looking forward to the season”, and says there are four or five players who will make a “big impact for us.”

The team’s “setting and hitting,” has McDivitt excited for the upcoming season, along with the group of upcoming freshmen.

The group isn’t trying to change too much going into the season, remaining familiar with previous strategies.

The team’s first home game is on Sept. 5 at 6:00 p.m.

AACC will host a Tri-match Sept. 16 with matches starting at 11:00 a.m.

The Women’s Volleyball team held tryouts on August 17, in the gymnasium.
