5K finds home on campus

AACC will host its second road race of the school year on Nov. 23 on the Siegert Field.

The 28th annual Turkey Trot is open to students, faculty and members of the community.

The college was the site for another race in October, the sixth annual Al Cantello Jr. Memorial Run.

“Al’s Run” traditionally was on Kent Island. This is the first year the race was at the college.

The annual memorial run honors Cantello, who died in a boating accident on July 18, 2010.

The Al Cantello Jr. Scholarship Fund organizes the memorial run annually, raising money for student-athlete scholarships.

The scholarship fund has rewarded students with more than $75,000.

According to Karen Cantello O’Kane, Cantello’s sister, nearly 150 community members ran in this year’s 5K.
