The Riverhawks are the women’s soccer Region 20 Division II champions for the second consecutive year.
The second-seeded team, which finished the regular season with 12 wins and four losses, claimed the title after defeating top-seeded College of Southern Maryland, 3-2, on Nov. 1 at Howard Community College.
With 11 seconds left on the clock, forward Alyssa Simms scored the game-winning goal, propelling the Riverhawks to the East District final on Nov. 7.

The team advances to the NJCAA Division II East District Championship, which will open at noon on Friday, Nov. 7, at AACC’s Siegert Field. If the Riverhawks win that game, they will travel to Wichita, Kansas, for the national championship tournament.
