“I provide best man services for guys who lack in such areas.”

This is the central plot of the comedic venture that is “The Wedding Ringer.”

The film stars Kevin Hart as Jimmy, a master best man, who is hired by Doug (played by Josh Gad), who is in need of one best man and seven groomsmen; something those in that area of work call a “Golden Tux”.

Kevin Hart gives the same result in his acting as he would in one of his stand-up comedy specials: he puts as much energy and hilarity in his craft of acting as he does in his stand-up routines.
The film boasts a strong supporting cast starring Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, best known for her role as Penny in the “Big Bang Theory”, as Doug’s fiancée and Jorge Garcia who most will recognize as Hurley from the TV show “Lost”.

I’m not much for films that revolve around the premise of a large wedding in the end, but “The Wedding Ringer” definitely puts a fresh spin on the comedic sides of preparing for a wedding.
I wouldn’t go to the extent of putting this in the genre of “romantic comedy” seeing as it doesn’t revolve around a lone couple for the majority of the movie.

I’d call it a “buddy comedy” which is a type of movie that you can not only attend with a group of friends and have a good time seeing, but also be able to reflect upon.
The movie is packed with romps and hijinks that are similar to popular comedic movies such as “Bridesmaids” and “The Hangover”.

Although it’s been out for a month now, I believe that it is still worth seeing in theaters. If you’re looking for a nice comedy to see with a group of friends, “The Wedding Ringer” would be my recommendation to you.
