MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY

Make a Difference Day is a service project supported by AACC that
promotes community involvement.

On Saturday, Oct. 25 students, faculty, and staff have the chance to work
together with the Hospice of the Chesapeake to paint and install planter boxes for a
deck herb garden that will grow herbs used not only for cooking but for treating
nausea, anxiety, and insomnia as well.

“This is our second year participating in Make a Different Day, a national
day of service,” said Stephanie Goldenberg, the Program Coordinator for the
Center for Learning through Service at AACC.

“We have chosen to support Make a Difference Day to allow students
opportunities to become civically engaged and for our offices to promote and
culture of community involvement and stewardship.”

The event is set for 9:30 a.m. at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center, at 3675
Solomon’s Island Road located in Harwood, Maryland.

For carpool, volunteers should show up to leave at 8:45 a.m. and will return
to AACC at 1 p.m. So far, approximately 10 to 15 AACC staff, faculty, and
students are expected to participate in this event.
